USS New York

It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the
World Trade  Center.

It is the fifth in a new class of warships designed for missions

that include special operations against terrorists.

It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines
to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft.

Steel from the
World
Trade Center was melted down in a foundry in Amite, LA to
cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured into the molds on
Sept 9, 2003
, 'those big rough
steelworkers treated it with total reverence,' recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there.

'It was a spiritual moment for everybody there.'

Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first arrived, he
touched it with his hand and the 'hair on my neck stood up.' 'It had a big meaning to it for all of us,' he said. 'They knocked us down. They can't keep us down. We're going to be back.'

The
ship's motto?

'Never Forget'

The U. S. Navy Ceremonial Guard Silent Drill Team was invited to compete in an international tattoo in Norway....they competed against military units from all over NATO...and won first place.

 Engineer turrned Carpenter

This is what happens when an engineer takes up carpentry as a hobby.

The Walking Table is pretty cool but the Expanding Table is truly awesome.

Spreading the Wealth

It is the month of August, a resort town sits next to the shores of a lake. It is raining, and the little town looks totally deserted. It is tough times, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit.

Suddenly, a rich tourist comes to town. He enters the only hotel, lays a 100 dollar bill on the reception counter, and goes to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one.

The hotel proprietor takes the 100 dollar bill and runs to pay his debt to the butcher.

The Butcher takes the 100 dollar bill, and runs to pay his debt to the pig raiser.

The pig raiser takes the 100 dollar bill, and runs to pay his debt to the supplier of his feed and fuel.

The supplier of feed and fuel takes the 100 dollar bill and runs to pay his debt to the town's prostitute that in these hard times, gave her "services" on credit.

The hooker runs to the hotel, and pays off her debt with the 100 dollar bill to the hotel proprietor to pay for the rooms that she rented when she brought her clients there.

The hotel proprietor then lays the 100 dollar bill back on the counter so that the rich tourist will not suspect anything.

At that moment, the rich tourist comes down after inspecting the rooms, and takes his 100 dollar bill, after saying that he did not like any of the rooms, and leaves town.

No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now without debt, and looks to the future with a lot of optimism .

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the United States Government is doing business today.
